When is cherry-picking season?
Cherry-picking season in Yamagata Prefecture is from early June to around the first days of July. The different varieties of cherry are harvested in the following order: Benisayaka, Takasago, Satonishiki, Napoleon, and Benishuho. There are also orchards where you can enjoy cherry picking in greenhouses from around mid-April.
Plus, Yamagata Benio, a new large variety that is bigger than a 500-yen coin, will make its full-fledged debut in 2023.
